PFR
PFR has two meanings: the preflop raiser, the first player to raise before the flop, and a statistic that shows how often a player raises before the flop. In both cases it describes aggression before the flop.
The simple explanation
As a role, the PFR is the player who started the raising. As a statistic, a PFR of 15 percent means that the player raises 15 hands of 100.
A closer look
The statistic is read together with VPIP: a player with a VPIP of 24 and a PFR of 20 is aggressive, as he raises most of the hands he plays. A player with a VPIP of 30 and a PFR of 8 calls a lot and is passive. Many solid players have a PFR close to their VPIP. As a role, the PFR often has the initiative after the flop and makes the first bet.
A practical example
A HUD shows VPIP 22 and PFR 18 next to a player, so he raises most of the hands that he plays.
