Poker Glossary

Editorial Policy

My goal is to make Poker Glossary the clearest, most useful, and most reliable resource for poker terminology I can build.

Clear at every level

Beginner explanations use plain language and focus on the basic idea. Advanced explanations look at practical use, context, and nuances. Those details can help newer players, too. Where separate explanations aren’t available yet, I keep the original article accessible.

Details matter

I’ve worked with poker websites and online poker since 2003, and I take the details seriously. I research terms carefully and check their meaning in context. Poker language can vary between games, cardrooms, and communities, so I try to make those differences clear.

The glossary includes older material that I’m reviewing and improving over time. I don’t treat every existing entry as fully reviewed simply because it is published.

Examples and corrections

Interactive hands are simplified teaching examples. They explain a concept, rather than recommend the best strategy in every situation.

If you spot a mistake or a confusing explanation, email [email protected] with the page link and your suggestion. I review corrections and update the relevant entry.
