A suit is one of the four groups of cards in a deck: clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades. Each suit has 13 cards.

There are four suits in a standard deck. Cards of the same suit are important for flushes. In poker, no suit is higher than another.

Suits matter for flushes and straight flushes, and for describing hands: suited, offsuit, rainbow and so on. In most poker games, the suit does not break ties. In some games, such as stud, suits are used to decide who brings in when door cards have the same rank. Clubs and spades are black, and diamonds and hearts are red.
