Snap Call

A snap call is a call made immediately, without thinking. It usually shows that the caller has a very strong hand, or that he has already decided what to do.

The simple explanation

If someone calls a bet at once, the others say that it was a snap call. It is often a sign of strength, since the player did not need to think.

A closer look

A snap call can be a tell, but it is not reliable: good players can act quickly with weak hands, or take time with strong ones. In online poker, speed is easy to see, which may be a clue. Because it is a real tell only in some cases, treat it as one piece of information. Snap calls against all-in bets are typical with premium hands.

A practical example

A player puts in his stack, and the opponent calls at once with A♥ A♦. It is a snap call.
