Re‑draw

A re-draw is a situation in which a player already has a strong hand but can still improve it on a later betting round. For example, a set with a flush draw has a re-draw to a flush.

The simple explanation

You have a good hand, but you can still get a better one. The extra chance of improving is the re-draw.

A closer look

Re-draws protect a strong hand against opponents with draws: even if the opponent hits, you may still win by improving. In draw games, a re-draw is also a later draw. A hand with a re-draw can bet and raise with more confidence.

A practical example

You hold Q♥ Q♦ and the flop is Q♣ 7♦ 2♦. You have a set with a re-draw to a diamond flush.
