Rotation

Rotation is the movement in the direction of the deal, which is clockwise. The button, the action and the deal all rotate around the table.

The simple explanation

In poker, the button moves clockwise after each hand. The betting also goes clockwise. This movement is the rotation.

A closer look

The rotation decides who posts the blinds and who acts next. Some games rotate the dealer in different ways, such as in home games where each player deals in turn. In mixed games, the game also rotates after a set number of hands.

A practical example

After each hand, the button moves one seat to the left, following the rotation.
