Ragged

A ragged flop is a flop that does not seem to help anybody much, with unconnected cards of different suits, such as J-6-2.

The simple explanation

A ragged board has no strong draws and no obvious pairs for most hands. For example, jack, six and two of different suits.

A closer look

On ragged boards, the preflop raiser often has the advantage, since he has more high cards. Continuation bets are common and small. A ragged board is also called a dry board. The best hand tends to stay the best, so there is less danger from draws.

A practical example

The flop is J♦ 6♥ 2♣. It is a ragged flop.
