Postflop

Postflop is the stage of a hand after the flop has been dealt. It includes the flop, turn and river betting rounds.

The simple explanation

After the three flop cards are dealt, all the betting is postflop. The decisions are more complex, because you see more cards.

A closer look

Postflop play is where skill matters most, since players choose bets based on the board, position and stacks. Preflop actions decide the ranges. The stack-to-pot ratio and the texture of the board guide postflop strategy. Many players study postflop theory with solvers.

A practical example

After a raise and a call before the flop, the flop comes and the postflop betting begins.
