Nut Flush Draw

A nut flush draw is four cards of one suit including the ace, needing one more card of that suit to make the highest possible flush.

The simple explanation

With the ace of spades and another spade, and two spades on the flop, you have a nut flush draw. A spade gives you the nuts.

A closer look

The nut flush draw has nine outs and also gives you pair outs with the ace. It is a strong semi-bluffing hand, because it can win in two ways. It avoids the risk of losing to a higher flush.

A practical example

You hold A♠ 5♠ and the flop is K♠ 9♠ 2♣. You have the nut flush draw.
