Poker glossary
Gallery
The gallery is the nonplaying spectators who watch a game.
The simple explanation
People who stand or sit behind the table and watch the game are the gallery. They do not play, but they can follow the action.
A closer look
In big tournaments and televised games, the gallery can be large. Rules protect the game: spectators may not talk about the players' cards or give advice, and they usually stand behind a rail. In a private game, the host decides if there is a gallery.
A practical example
At the final table, fans in the gallery watch the last hands from behind the rail.
