Flush
A flush is five cards of the same suit, not in sequence. It ranks above a straight and below a full house.
The simple explanation
If all five of your cards are hearts, you have a flush. If they are also in order, it is a straight flush, which is better.
A closer look
When two players have a flush, the one with the highest card wins; if those are equal, the next highest card decides. The ace-high flush is the nut flush. A flush draw needs two more cards of the suit and has nine outs. The word is also used outside the table: to be flush means to have lots of money, as in 'I'm flush now'.
A practical example
You hold A♥ 9♥ and the board is K♥ 7♥ 2♥ J♣ 4♦. You have an ace-high flush.
