Five of a Kind

Five of a kind is five cards of the same rank, possible only with wild cards or more than one deck.

The simple explanation

Five of a kind needs five cards of one rank. A normal deck has only four of each rank, so the hand is impossible without a wild card, a joker or more than one deck. When it exists, it beats every other hand.

A closer look

The hand is the highest ranking in games with wild cards, such as deuces wild. It does not appear in standard hold'em or Omaha. In a game with a joker, four aces and the joker make five aces.

A practical example

In a deuces wild game, a player holds K♥ K♦ K♣ 2♠ 2♥: three kings and two wild deuces make five kings.
