BTW
BTW is chat shorthand for 'by the way'.
The simple explanation
BTW is internet shorthand for 'by the way'. People use it to add a side comment to a message. At online poker tables it appears in chat, for example when a player says 'btw nice hand' after a pot.
A closer look
BTW has no special poker meaning. Many sites set rules about chat, and it is best to keep messages short and polite. Because chat during a hand can be a way to pass information, some sites limit what you can say while a hand is in progress, so the shorthand is best kept for conversation between hands.
A practical example
A player types, 'btw nice hand,' after a pot.
