Fifth Street

Fifth street is the fifth community card in hold'em, the river, or the fifth card dealt to each player in stud.

The simple explanation

The meaning depends on the game. In flop games, fifth street is the last community card, also called the river. In stud games, it is the fifth card dealt to each player, and it brings the third round of betting.

A closer look

In seven-card stud, the cards are numbered by street: third street is the first three cards, fourth street the fourth, and so on up to seventh street. In flop games fifth street is the river. In stud the bets double on fifth street in fixed limit games, because the big bet is used from that point.

A practical example

In hold'em, the river is the fifth street. In seven-card stud, the fifth card dealt to each player starts the third betting round.
