Hit

Hit means that the flop contained cards that help your hand, as in 'the flop hit me'. It can also be used for the turn and the river.

The simple explanation

If you have ace-king and the flop comes K-7-2, the flop hit you. It gave you a pair.

A closer look

The phrase is part of table talk and hand discussions. A flop that 'hits' a player also 'misses' others. Thinking about which flops hit which ranges is one of the core skills in poker: the player who raised before the flop with strong cards is more likely to have hit a high flop.

A practical example

You hold A♥ K♦ and the flop is K♠ 7♣ 2♦. The flop hit you.
