Poker glossary
Wing
To wing is to have a winning streak. A player who is winging has been winning for some time.
The simple explanation
The word is old gambling slang for a run of success. If a player says that he is winging, he means that he is winning a lot.
A closer look
A streak is a short-term result and can end at any time, so good players do not change their strategy because of it. Variance explains why a player can have a run of wins. The related term 'heater' is more common today.
A practical example
After winning three pots in a row, a player says that he is winging tonight.
