Stud Games

Stud games are games in which players get some cards face down and some face up. The most common stud game is seven-card stud.

The simple explanation

In stud, there are no community cards. Each player builds his own hand from his own cards, and he can see some of the other players' cards.

A closer look

Stud variants include seven-card stud, razz, stud hi-lo and five-card stud. They are usually played at fixed limits. Players need to keep track of the up cards that have been dealt, since they show which cards are still live.

A practical example

In seven-card stud, a player has three down cards and four up cards by the end.
