Pushing Bets

Pushing bets is an agreement between players to return bets to each other when one of them wins a pot in which the other plays. It is also called saving bets and is a form of collusion.

The simple explanation

Two players who agree to give each other back their bets are pushing bets. They lose nothing against each other, and win only from the others.

A closer look

Pushing bets is cheating, since the others in the game lose out. It is a form of soft-play or chip dumping. Casinos forbid it and may ban players who do it. If you suspect that two players are doing this, tell the floor.

A practical example

Two friends agree that when one wins a pot against the other, he will return the money. That is pushing bets.
