Ace-to-Five

Ace-to-five is a way of ranking low poker hands: aces are low, and straights and flushes do not count against you.

Badugi

Badugi is a draw poker game in which the best hand has four cards of different suits and ranks.

Dealer’s Choice

Dealer's choice is a style of poker in which the dealer picks the game variant for the hand.

Deuce-to-Seven

Deuce-to-seven is a lowball game in which the best hand is 7-5-4-3-2 and aces are high.

Draw Game

A draw game is a poker game in which players can replace cards from their hands to improve them.

Draw Lowball

Draw lowball is a form of poker in which each player gets five cards, may replace some, and the lowest hand wins.

Hi‑Lo

Hi-lo is the name for poker games in which the pot is split between the best high hand and the best qualifying low hand. If one player has both the best high and the best low, he wins the whole pot. The best-known examples are Omaha hi-lo and seven-card stud hi-lo.

High Hand

The high hand is the best hand in a round of poker. In hi-lo games, the high hand wins one half of the pot, and in some casinos a high hand jackpot pays the best hand of the hour.

HORSE

HORSE is a mixed game that rotates through five poker variants: Hold'em, Omaha hi-lo, Razz, seven-card stud and seven-card stud hi-lo (eight or better). It is usually played with fixed limits, and the letters of its name are the first letters of the games.

Low Hand

A low hand is a hand that wins by being the lowest. In hi-lo games it takes half the pot, and in lowball games it takes all of it. In many games the best low hand is A-2-3-4-5, known as the wheel.

Lowball

Lowball is a form of poker in which the lowest hand wins the pot. Variants include ace-to-five lowball and deuce-to-seven lowball, which rank hands differently.

Quartered

Quartered means that you win only a quarter of the pot in a hi-lo game, because you tie for one half of the pot with another player. For example, if you and another player share the nut low, each of you takes a quarter, while the high hand takes half.

Razz

Razz is a form of seven-card stud in which the lowest hand wins. Aces are low, and straights and flushes do not count against you, so the best possible hand is A-2-3-4-5, called the wheel.

Rolled Up

Rolled up is a term for seven-card stud: a player is dealt three of a kind in his first three cards. It is a very strong start.

Wheel

The wheel is the straight A-2-3-4-5, the lowest possible straight, where the ace counts as a low card. In lowball and hi-lo games it is also the best possible low hand.

Wild Card

A wild card is a card that can be used as any rank, for example a joker. Games with wild cards, such as deuces wild, change the hand rankings, since a hand like five of a kind becomes possible.
