Omaha is a poker game similar to Hold'em in which each player gets four hole cards and must use exactly two of them with exactly three of the five community cards. The most popular forms are pot-limit Omaha and Omaha hi-lo.
The simple explanation
The game is played like Hold'em, with a flop, turn and river. The difference is that you have four cards, and you must use two. With more cards, hands are stronger, and many players have draws.
A closer look
Because you have four cards, you have many more possible hands. Equities run closer, and nut hands are important. Drawing hands such as wraps are strong. Pot-limit Omaha limits the bet size, so stacks go in over several streets. In Omaha hi-lo (Omaha 8), the pot is split between the best high and the best low. The rule of using exactly two hole cards is the source of many mistakes: you cannot use three of your cards.
