A probe bet is a continuation bet made after a missed opportunity to act first.
Full explanation
A probe bet is a continuation bet made after a missed opportunity to act first.
Explanation. When the initial aggressor checks, a player who was not the preflop raiser may bet to “probe” the strength of opponents’ hands. This bet aims to take initiative and steal the pot or gather information about opponents’ ranges. It differs from a standard continuation bet by acting out of position or after an unexpected check.
